ATEK utilizes a team approach to process development ensuring that the various functional areas responsible for supporting a product post-launch are part of a focused team during the development and launch stages.

As an FDA compliant and ISO 13485:2003 certified supplier, ATEK uses a formal system for process qualifications and/or validations to meet customer requirements. Statistical methods and analysis are utilized to ensure a high level of confidence and reliability for implementation or changes made for all processes.

ATEK creates value for our customers by applying lean manufacturing principles to our value stream to identify and eliminate all forms of waste. We utilize the lean philosophy within our supplier base, within our support areas, and throughout the manufacturing process. The success of our lean philosophy is based on the training and empowerment of our dedicated employees.

ATEK has implemented Value Stream Teams into its manufacturing processes to facilitate effective communication and immediate problem solving. The team is dedicated to a customers' product family and has total responsibility for a specific customer offering. Daily production, raw material inventory, on-time delivery, error proofing, process qualification and validation, quality issues, and engineering are all part of the team structure.

We ensure product quality consistently by minimizing the variables and inconsistencies within our manufacturing processes by using tools such as:

  • Design FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Design verifications and validations
  • Process FMEA
  • Installation qualifications
  • Operational qualifications
  • Process qualifications and process validations.

Manufacturing Cells
Manufacturing cells are designed and implemented using the manufacturing team and lean tools. Most of the cells are configured in a U-shape to allow for flow of material and information. Each cell is required to balance the operator cycle time with the customer demand to minimize the labor requirements and reduce finished goods inventory.

ATEK participates in customer driven Six Sigma programs and selected employees have been through green belt training and participate on our customers' teams.
